TALKS/LECTURES | WORKSHOPS | DETAILS FOR BOOKING ROB | PAST EVENTS ATTENDED If you are an Event organiser, teaching provider or group/organisation wishing to offer workshops or talks or to simply explore the topics Rob has direct experience of then the information on this page will help you know what Rob can offer you. Rob's professional academic background is in Environmental Education and Ecotherapthy, completing his degree in 1996 he went on to work with Kent County Council as Environmental Education and Events officer for four years. Here he worked with diverse groups from nursery aged children, to schools, colleges, universities and specialist interest groups and local communities; offering a variety of on site tours and visits of Kent's Country Parks, travelling around the county to offer lectures, talks and workshops on Kent's countryside. Rob then returned to work at his university, London Guildhall University, continuing his work and developing community outreach work and widening participation. In 2000 Rob established 'Woodspirit' drawing upon his Academic and Spiritual experience, to offer workshops, courses, events and talks/lectures exploring a native British practice of shamanism through modern pagan Druidry. Spirituality Rob started to explore Britain's native spiritual heritage at an early age with some wise country folk. In 1990 he joined the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids and fully completed their course the Druid Grade. At the same time working with a variety of teachers within Druidry and British Shamanism such a Phillip Shallcrass (Druid), Emma Restall-Orr (Druid), Catlin & John Mathews (Celtic tradition), Michelle Calibourne (Native American), Francis Firebrace (Australian Aboriginal), Greta Hungfordand (Sami) & Gill Ballard (Spiritualist, Healer and Medium). Here is a list of the standard talks/lectures Rob offers, however he can tailor make talks/lectures around the subjects that he works with.
This talk focus on Robs personal journey to finding Druidry. This is a personal account or a young lads fight to find his place in the world and away of challenging his deep love for nature through a spiritual expression that was both hard, healing and ultimately saving his life.
This basic introduction to modern pagan Druidry. Presented as a vibrant and relevant spiritual tradition and indeed religion in the 21st century, that draws its inspiration from our ancestors, the land and how we live our lives honourably and responsibly with sacred relationship.
The Tree Ogham is a ancient script, used to represent the different qualities of the Trees, Shrubs and Plants of our British woodlands. Today we can find such a system a great tool for inspiration, divination, healing and personal development as well and establishing a deeper, sacred relationship to Trees.
The Bone Singers are the edge folk, living in both this and the next world. They cared for the dead and sang the stories of the bones of the ancestors, their chants echoing in deep bellied womb-tombs. They were both feared and respected, and so lived on the edge of their society and this physical existence. Today the Bone Singers teach us of the inspiration of aloneness, of being different from the 'norm', of facing our mortality and dealing with death and the dying. Here we find our true vocation and dedication, for the Bone Singer spends many hours with the bones of the dead to ensure that their song lives on and echo from deep with this sacred land, deep with the belly of mother earth. They also teach us of the realities of other world beyond our physical realm of here and now.
Whether Celtic Shamanism actually exists as a long lost/forgotten spiritual practice of Britain it much debated. However if we look back into the native spiritual heritage of Britain we find that the practices are very much Shamanic, but perhaps the practitioners would not have been known as Shamans! Rob see's Druidry very much as a Shamanic Tradition, yet Druids are simply priest of nature who work shamanically; the Ovate's being the most shamanic of all as they trance journey for healing and prophecy. Therefore the Druid is the shaman of Britain, just as Rob would see the Siberian Shaman being the Druid priest of Siberia.
Through the years that Rob has evolved through Paganism, his relationship to the old gods has deepened. His understanding of them has been developed to an extent that their reality is a reality that he can shift his consciousness into. He can stand up and say – They exist, not necessarily tangible but present in this world all the same. This is a personal experience, but he inspires us to allow ourselves to be open to feel, sense and have the courage to allow the old gods to touch us, for the sprits of place to work with us, for the tree to teach us to unlock that ancestral memory within ourselves. Also this comes with time, practise and getting out there to experience them!
Working with the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water around our scared circle to find and explore about our own unique soul song and stores as well as developing and deepening our connection to natural cycles of earth, sun and moon tide.
A Pagan Drum Circle using shamanic drumming, soul songs and chanting to find the freedom of expression of our wild souls and the wild land.
A basic introduction to work with the spirit essence of plants to bring about healing or a deeper connection to the plant realm and spirits. Working firstly with our main native teacher plants of Yew, Oak, Mugwort and Mistletoe.
The Bone Singers are the edge folk, living in both this and the next world. They cared for the dead and sang the stories of the bones of the ancestors, their chants echoing in deep bellied womb-tombs. This workshop it about exploring ways we can honour, connect and explore our ancestral stories of our blood land and the wild land.
